The Deacons

How can deacons activate ministry within the church?

Deacons are essential to a healthy church; yet, there is often confusion regarding the specifics of their ecclesiastical role. What function has God assigned to them within the local congregation, and how do they relate to the broader mission of the church?

In this concise book, Matt Smethurst explains that deacons are exemplary servants—called to address tangible needs, organize and mobilize acts of service, preserve the unity of the congregation, and support the ministry of the elders. Smethurst clears up common misconceptions and offers practical guidance for appointing deacons and helping churches flourish.

"If I could go back in time and choose one book to help our church navigate the ministry challenges we faced this year, this would be it."
